Tamil Nadu Draft Electoral Roll was released on December 19, after SIR
The Election Commission of India (ECI) released the Integrated Draft Electoral Roll for Tamil Nadu on December 19, 2025, after completing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. In total 97.37 lakh names have been deleted. This brings down the total electorate from 6.41 crore to 5.43 crore. This is 15.9% of the total voters. Eligible voters can file objections for inclusion from Dec 19 to Jan 18.
26.94 lakh electors were identified as deceased. The ” permanently shifted or absentee” category accounted for 66.44 lakh voters, which is 10.36 % of total voters in the state. About 3.98 Lakh voters were removed for having dual electorate.
What Is Special Intensive Revision (SIR)?
The Special Intensive Revision is a comprehensive exercise conducted by the Election Commission to ensure the accuracy of electoral rolls. As part of SIR, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) carry out house-to-house verification, collect enumeration details, and verify voter information on the ground. Phase I was carried out in Bihar. Phase II was intiated in After Phase I, Phase II covered 9 States and 3 UTs: States: Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal. UTs: Andaman & Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Puducherry
The objective is to:
- Remove duplicate or ineligible entries
- Correct errors in voter details
- Ensure eligible voters are included in the rolls
What Should Voters Do After the Draft Roll Is Released?
- Check whether their name appears in the draft roll
- Verify personal details such as name, address, and age
- Submit claims or objections if required, within the stipulated period

What if name is left out in the draft roll?
The reason for the name removal is listed in district wise election department release. You should verify why your name is removed.
Before Jan 18, you can claim an objection for the wrong removal of your name through your BLO or district-level election officer.
Or you can apply new registration under form 6. This application can be found in with your BLO or in https://voters.eci.gov.in/
